Steps to Play RetroArch on Firestick
RetroArch is one of the frontends and open source services that allows you to play video games, get game engines, and much more.
There is no dedicated Firestick service of RetroArch available. We opt for the sideloading method.
- On your Firestick, turn the Apps from Unknown Sources feature on.
- Opt for the Downloader app on your Firestick and install it.
- Perform a search in Downloader to install the RetroArch apk.
- After downloading the apk, install RetroArch from the apk.
- Do enable the Bluetooth Pairing mode on your Gamepad.
- Head over the Settings on your Firestick.
- And opt the Bluetooth & Connected Devices.
- Then go for Game Controllers and pick Add New Game Controller on your Firestick.
- Now your Firestick will look for the nearby available devices. Choose your Gamepad on it. You’ll be notified with the Flash message informing you that the Gamepad is connected to your Firestick.
- Get into the installed RetroArch app on your Firestick.
- Then prefer the Load a Core option and pick Download a Core in RetroArch.
- Do load the cores of your choice and close RetroArch on your Firestick.
- Load ES File Explorer on your Firestick.
- Get access to ES File Explorer on your Firestick and prefer Network in the left pane.
- Then go for the View on PC option in ES File Explorer.
- Tap the Turn on button in the ES File Explorer.
- Do connect with an FTP program and access the RetroArch directory.
- Then create a folder called ROMs under the RetroArch directory.
- Choose the ROM files and drop them in the ROMs folder.
- Get back to the home screen of Firestick.
- Get access to RetroArch.
- Then go for the Import Content option in RetroArch.
- Now prefer the Scan Document option and select the RetroArch directory.
- Opt for the ROMs folder and prefer Scan this Directory in RetroArch.
- Let the scanning complete and get back to the home page of RetroArch.
- On the home page of RetroArch on your FireStick, choose any of the loaded cores or ROMs file from the left side navigation pane.
- Then pick a Game to play in RetroArch.
- Tap Run and choose the core.
- Tap Run once again and start playing the Game in RetroArch on your Firestick using the connected Gamepad.
